“Chocolate Rain” by Tay Zonday

So, I figured with all the talk of race in recent days, it would make a great idea for us to show something that was a bit more provocative, and something that digs a little below the surface of our normal discussion.

This is an original song by Tay Zonday about world-wide racism, specifically racism against those with African descent. I hope you find this song as profound as I did.

UPDATE: The lyrics for this song are available here: http://cookingforbrevitt.typepad.com/blog/2007/06/chocolate_rain_.html

SPINAL TAP SELECTS Tay Zonday AS NEW LEAD SINGER

London, UK August 09, 2007 Members of the band Spinal Tap gathered in a small Soho coffee shop today to announce their final selection of the band’s new lead singer.

“It’s ****ing crap” says David St. Hubbins, an original band member, clearly emotional about the selection.

Spinal Tap management explain that Tay will inject just the right talent need to propel the band’s upcomming tour “Skid Like a Mark”, to levels exceeding the “Break Like the Wind” tour.

The ever excitable Nigel Tufnel explains, “We’re very excited about Tay, and look forward to getting him some better glasses and showing him how we grow our hair long so it can swing and what not…”. Nigel goes on to explain that the band will work with Tay expand his vocal range, using the as yet unproven testicular compression and large bottom boots.

Near the end of the press conference, bass player Derek Smalls threw his arm around Tay and professed “Tay is the hair of the dog you see. Skid Like a Mark *IS* his groove. And we really really like his brown.. er, chocolate rain song too.”

Spinal Tap is heavy metal band featured in the 1984 rockumentary film “This is Spinal Tap”.
