I live in a very small town, where we enjoy an incredibly low crime rate.  However, a particular crime just seemed to sweep the entire village lately.  As many have noticed, the number of Democratic political signs being displayed has dwindled to near nothing in the last 48 hours, while the number of Republican political signs has remained the same.  I had my Barack Obama sign out front, and then Friday night at about 1am (so I guess it was Saturday morning) I noticed a car sitting outside my house for about 30-45 seconds before taking off in one hell of a hurry.  My suspicion was that someone had urinated or tossed a beer can or something in my yard.  When I went out to pick up whatever had potentially been dumped I noticed that my Barack Obama sign had been lifted.

I’m certain that it was there before because my brother who showed up at 11pm that night made a comment about it being the only sign on my block.

I’m not usually one for conspiracy theories, but there were dozens of Obama signs out that are now missing.  This community seems to be split 60/40 in favor of Barack Obama if you look at the signs.  I’m a little suspicious about this because all of the John McCain and Support the Troops signs are still right where they were, but the Barack Obama and End the War signs are gone.

I’ve called the local paper–the Mahomet Citizen–and I was told that I was not the first person who had reported this problem to them.  I just thought it was interesting that I’ve seen all sorts of reports of signs being pilfered all over the country… the vast majority of which are Barack Obama signs.
